Broken Bow Boys Basketball Preview – Presented by Pine Cellular

Coach: Ryan Woolsey
20-21 Record: 19-7

The Savages enjoyed an excellent season last year going 19-7 overall. Head coach Ryan Woolsey returns the nucleus of a team that has the potential to take root in the top 10 and make a serious push for or in the state tournament. “We have everyone, but one returning from a top 10 team last year and will replace him with his bigger, younger brother,” said coach Woolsey. “We will have two of the best scorers on the floor every night in Keylan Wright and Kiefer Young.” Wright (6-3, Sr.) averaged 13 points last season and could easily bump that total to twenty-plus points a game. Young (6-2, Jr.) averaged 16 points a game and like Wright, could see a significant bump in his point totals this season. Broady Baker (6-2, Sr.) is a strong presence around the rim. Coach Woolsey said what he lacks in size, he makes up for with strength and skill. Jakyran Whitfield (6-0, So.) steps in after older brother CJ graduated. Whitfield is developing a skill set that could make him a go-to player for the Savages. Another player to watch is Jaggar Smith who is possibly pound-for-pound the best rebounder in the area. Overall the Savages are poised for a solid season and if a couple of things go their way, this team could be a contender come tournament time.
