Broken Bow’s Kennison Camp Athlete Spotlight Presented by Broken Bow Dentistry

By Payton Moody
Kennison Camp is a name that stands out at Broken Bow High School for her exceptional dedication and unwavering support as a cheerleader. A true leader both on and off the squad, Camp’s cheer journey has been shaped by meaningful relationships and a deep commitment to her sport.

Camp’s favorite cheer coach, Mrs. Walls, has had a profound impact on her life. “Having that support has allowed me to be a better teammate and student-athlete,” Camp said. Teammates play a pivotal role in a cheerleader’s journey, and for Camp, Hannah Hurst was that teammate. Hannah, a senior during Camp’s freshman year, served as a mentor and a support system. “Her mentorship and support were a great model for how to be a good teammate.”

One teacher who has significantly influenced Camp’s life is Mrs. Clift. As her freshman year math teacher, Mrs. Clift’s willingness to accommodate Camp’s athletic commitments and offer extra help left a lasting impression.

Camp’s commitment to multiple sports throughout the year keeps her engaged and in excellent shape year-round. While it’s a busy schedule, it ensures she’s always prepared for the next season.
Cheerleading has taught Camp valuable life skills, including leadership, teamwork and the ability to overcome challenges. “It has also taught me how to work with my teammates to overcome anything and come together to accomplish our goals,” Camp said.

Looking ahead to her senior year, Camp’s goal for the cheer team is to win the 4A Gameday Competition. The state cheer competition is a highlight Camp eagerly anticipates. She’s proud of the team’s routine and is excited to see their hard work translate into a spectacular performance.

Beyond high school, Camp aspires to attend Southern Arkansas University and pursue a degree in exercise science with a focus on strength and conditioning. Her dedication to her sport and leadership qualities make Kennison Camp a shining star in Broken Bow High School’s cheerleading squad. Her journey inspires others to pursue their passions and become leaders both on and off the mat.
