Broken Bow’s Katie Rogers – Basketball Spotlight – Presented by Evan Smalling State Farm

Katie Rogers is a student at Broken Bow High School whose devotion to both academics and basketball is as impressive as her journey through the sport. Katie’s love for basketball runs deep, rooted in the legacy of her family and the friendships forged on the court. “I’ve played basketball since Upward. I started at age five,” she shared, reminiscing about the formative years spent shooting hoops with her sisters and under the guidance of her father, her first coach and unwavering supporter.

Inspired by the grit and determination of her older sisters, Molly and Chloe, Katie found role models who not only excelled on the court but also embodied qualities of intensity, confidence and self-assurance. “Chloe shows emotion and passion on the basketball court… while Molly influences me to be my own person,” she reflected, acknowledging the profound impact her siblings have had on her.

Navigating the demands of academics and athletics requires discipline and focus, virtues Katie embraces wholeheartedly. “I manage my academics and athletics schedule by staying focused in school, so I can use the rest of my time for basketball,” she explained, highlighting the balance she maintains to excel in both arenas.

Amidst the challenges of confidence and self-belief, Katie found solace in faith and family, grounding herself in the knowledge that her purpose transcends the game itself. “God is the one I play for… He created this game to be fun and enjoyable,” she said, embodying a perspective that elevates her passion beyond the court.

As a teammate, Katie embodies the values of leadership, encouragement and camaraderie, embracing her role as a guiding light to her peers. “Being a part of a team allows me to demonstrate these characteristics every day,” she shared.

Guided by coaches who nurture her talent and inspire her growth, Katie looks ahead to college basketball, fueled by a relentless drive to excel and a steadfast commitment to follow her faith and passions.

For Katie Rogers, basketball isn’t just a game; it’s a testament to perseverance, resilience and the unwavering support of family and community.
