Kamden Rodgers is a senior at Broken Bow and plays running back, cornerback, and safety for the Savages. Rodgers began playing football in the fifth grade and loves the competition and teamwork that the sport provides. For Rodgers, the key to success comes from him and his teammates buying into the system, working together, and keeping each other motivated. “I look for someone who is a team player and not just a me guy,” Rodgers said. “Someone that encourages or makes his teammates better instead of making them feel down.”
Rodgers appreciates the efforts that his coaches and family put forth to keep him motivated. “My coaches and family helped push me to be great,” Rodgers said. “And to never quit.” Football has taught Rodgers many lessons that will help him throughout the rest of his life. He appreciates the values that he has learned by being on a team and working together to achieve a common goal.
“Football has taught me discipline and determination and the will to keep fighting,” Rogers said. “It also taught me that not everything can go your way. You have to adapt to challenges.” Football has also brought Rodgers some memorable moments that he will cherish and always look back on fondly. “My favorite memory might be the game winning touchdown against Madill,” Rodgers said. “That’s something I won’t ever forget.”
As the season continues on Rogers has set some goals for himself. He wants to help Broken Bow make a push into the state playoffs. They currently sit at 3-1 overall and 1-0 in district play heading into October. “My goal is to win state in all my sports this year and hopefully make a name for myself,” Rodgers said. “Hopefully I can earn a scholarship out of it. I’d like to continue playing football in college and while I’m at it continue my education and study electrical engineering or become a linesman.”
