Broken Bow’s Madisyn Morphew – Color Guard Spotlight – Presented by Mandy Knowles – Shelter Insurance

Madisyn Morphew, a student at Broken Bow High School, has discovered her passion in color guard and enjoys the Friday Night Lights as well as competition season.

She had found inspiration in her mentor, Kimberley Thomas: “She has impacted me by always pushing me to be the best version of myself and helping to improve my confidence.”

Morphew also acknowledges the crucial role played by her teammates. “The two other captains on my color guard team- Emma Bothe and Gracie Meddock have always been there to support me and work with me to help our team reach its full potential,” Morphew said.

Among her teachers, Harley Thomas stands out as someone who has imparted essential life skills. “He has been influential to me because he has taught me many life skills and qualities such as accountability and leadership,” she said.

In preparation for the year, Morphew has focused on finding a balanced. “My preparation includes creating a balanced and consistent routine to be able to continuously work on my skills,” Morphew said.

The lessons Morphew has learned from color guard extend into her daily life: “Color guard has taught me how to be responsible for myself, and one of the most important skills I learned is time management.”

Morphew’s favorite memories revolve around the vibrant competitions and the camaraderie of her teammates. “My favorite memory in color guard has always been the competitions we go to, from the bus ride to the awards – I enjoy every minute beside my teammates,” Morphew said.

Looking ahead, Morphew hopes to create enduring memories. “This year, I hope to accomplish the goal of creating the best memories with amazing people that will last me for a lifetime,” she shared.

Among the upcoming events, Morphew is eagerly anticipating the OBA State Marching Championship as it promises a new and exhilarating experience.

Beyond high school, Morphew has big goals in mind for herself. “My plans after high school include going to college and continuing to participate in band and choir while working to become a psychologist.”
