Academic Bowl Spotlight – Broken Bow Senior Alicea Noah – Presented By McCurtain County National Bank

Broken Bow High School senior Alicea Noah participates in student council, serves as vice president of History Club and captains the Savages varsity academic team.

She’s a savant when it comes to buzzing in to answer history-related questions. She plans to major in history in college.

Noah plans to attend Arkansas University, where she has received the presidential distinguished scholarship.

“[Coach Rebekah] Clowers inspired me to take up academic team, and Mrs. [Wanda] Wood inspired me to do student council and history club,” Noah says. “They pushed me to be the best that I could be.”

Participating in quiz bowl gives Noah, who will graduate within the top 10% of her senior class, an opportunity to compete for her school.

“I have the most fun during lightning rounds. I love how fast it is, especially if it’s a subject I know a lot about,” Noah said. “One of my favorite memories from academic team is riding to all of the meets. We have Disney sing-alongs.”

Self-described as an “avid member” of her school and community, Noah considers Broken Bow
a unique town. “Since the town is small, our school is as well,” Noah said. “So we are able to create a stronger bond as a community and school.”
